Do It Anyway: The Be Heard Podcast Episode 20

There are few things more intimidating than a blank piece of paper, a blank screen, an empty recording track. Nothing. What do you do, when you don’t know what to do? What do you do when the blank paper mocks you, laughs at you, tells you you’ll never fill it, that your ideas aren’t worth putting onto the page? What then? You write anyway. What do you do when you can taste and feel a positive change coming, but all indications on the outside are that people want to stop you? It could be extensive edits to a pristine article. It could be a misunderstanding blown out of proportion. It could be a person caught doing wrong, attacking those … [Read more...]

Master the Process: The Be Heard Show Podcast Episode 19

It’s tough and you won’t always feel like doing it, but do it anyway. Create a framework and then move forward from there. One of the toughest things we can do is have an inspiring moment and then get mired in the “how” of it all. Meaning, we wonder which pen to use, which program to open, and which shoe to put on in the morning. I’ve found it’s much easier to overcome natural objections when I have a plan laid out. I can follow the plan. When inspiration comes, I can just put my inspirations inside of that template and go. The goal is not to eliminate creativity. It is really to facilitate creativity. Take care of the smaller … [Read more...]

The Olympic Mindset – The Be Heard Podcast Episode 18

Virginia Thrasher shows the profound value of an Olympic Mindset.  She won the first gold for the United States in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I picked up on this not because she won the first gold of the games for us, not because she’s a teen who went up against competitors twice her age, but because of something a bit more interesting. Virginia has an inspiring mindset that enabled her to win the gold and I believe it’s something that will serve her throughout her life. I want some of that. So I decided to study just what that special mindset is that has helped her to overcome competition from 50 countries around … [Read more...]

Be Redeemed – The Be Heard Podcast Episode 17

In this episode, I share how to Be Redeemed by taking small steps forward to reach your goals. Sometimes life can put you in a tiny space, a really tiny space. It’s up to you to keep the momentum going by moving forward even if it’s just a micro-movement. Break down those big, insurmountable tasks into the next logical steps. Then take the first of those steps. I also talk about my days as an aspiring salsera in Miami and how I was urged to take tinier steps when dancing. This helped me to have more options when moving on the dance floor. This applies to life also. Always take forward momentum as much as you possibly can. That way you … [Read more...]

Just Forgive: The Be Heard Podcast Episode 16

One of the toughest things for me to do is forgive other people when they do me wrong. I'm especially resistant to excuse mean words since I know the power of them. I'm learning to have the right mindset means to be prepared to forgive no matter what. That is radical, I know. It also depends on what you believe forgiveness truly is. For me, forgiveness involves trust. It involves God. And it involves taking an active approach in the other person's life, even if that just means praying for them. Summer Book Bonus: The Be Heard Show Episode 15

For this week's Mindset Minute, it's all about books. I'm calling this episode the "Summer Book Bonus!" I'm absolutely in love with them and summer is the perfect time to indulge and get my fill of the books I've been meaning to consume. I give myself to books and it's one of the most healing activities in my life. I get lost in them, especially fiction. When I come across a good story, I'm so grateful to the author for taking me to a place other than where I am right now. It's a mini-vacation in and of itself. Which books are you reading this summer? I'm reading a few mainstays and I'm returning to books I've read in the past but it's … [Read more...]
