It’s New Year’s Eve and in the spirit of new beginnings, love, and acceptance I have just one thing to say, “They’re not that into you anymore.” Meaning, people really don’t unsubscribe anymore. They talk about you behind your back by just ignoring your emails.
It’s a silent breakup. To prevent that in the future, here are a few tips to keep your email marketing life spicy:
1. Go and sin no more.
Be not boring and you’ll have a happy and strong marketing relationship. Be outrageous. It really is ok. The people who are supposed to be in your circle will be. Everyone else will fade away. You don’t want anyone to be lukewarm about you. Either they love you or they hate you. Once you’ve achieved that in your marketing, you’re golden.
2. Use a cool voice transcription service to help you write in the same way you speak.
I’ve developed this skill over the last 25 years of writing and editing positions I’ve held. (I started writing professionally when I was five, just so you know!) Google has a really good voice transcription service. I use it on my phone (android). Check it out.
3. Be consistent.
You don’t want to give your peeps a digital / email booty call by only emailing or communicating when you want something or when it’s the heavy buying season in your industry. Gain trust, then they’ll come running to you instead of you running after them. Got it? Good.
Here’s a video I recorded while I was driving on the dangerous, pothole-riddle streets of my hometown Philadelphia. Enjoy it!
Now I’m going to enjoy the New Year and I hope you do the same.
